HBF Customer Satisfaction Survey results for 2012 published
« on: March 27, 2012, 01:54:01 pm »
The results of  housebuilding industry's annual love-in have just been made public by the Home builder's Federation (HBF)

The HBF released the results of their latest customer satisfaction survey for the year October 2010 to September 2011 at the beginning of March.
This is much earlier than in previous years and you may wonder if this was because Easter is early this year and the house builder's want to benefit from this annual bit of PR!

The HBF say "each year the survey and the results analysed by the NHBC."
Out of all the new homes built last year just 41,892 surveys were sent out and only 23,778 (57%) were completed.
The survey is sent out to new home owners around 8 weeks after occupation.

This year (strangely) most 81% of the 16 larger house builders are now rated 5 stars for scoring 90% or more in two key questions:
1) Would you recommend your builder to a friend/
2) Taking everything into account, overall how satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the standard of your new home?

In question 2, "very satisfied" and "fairly satisfied" are added together to achieve the 90% "Satisfied".

Of the three that failed to reach 5 stars, all gained an extra star this year. Only Persimmon, Linden and Keepmoat are now rated four stars.

Last year, only 40% of the larger builders listed achieved 5 stars. FULL Star Rating Table

So as the HBF would have you believe it is 'slaps on the back for everyone' connected with building Britain's new homes and giving "a clear demonstration of the industry’s determination to continue to improve what it provides for its customers".
Perhaps they should look at some of the comments on snagging.org!

Could this "improvement" be due to the increased number of first timers buying new homes thanks to government sponsored incentives like the zero rate of stamp duty on homes under £250,000 and now the NewBuy scheme?
