If Britain is broke so why are we giving £13m aid to Brazil?
« on: January 14, 2012, 10:08:45 am »
Britain's overseas aid budget is in great need of thorough auditing and reining in.
It appears we will be giving Brazil more than £13million in overseas aid this year.
At a time of "we're all in this together" financial austerity, cuts in services and job losses this is madness.
Brazil is actually a richer than Britain!
Brazil has the world's sixth largest economy and is the fifth largest country with a wealth of natural resources.

Brazil doesn't need our aid.
Last year Brazilians showed their appreciation of our aid by turning away British ships from their ports in support Argentina's claim to the Falkland Islands.

I read in the paper that Brazil's economy grew by 2.7% last year (7.2% in 2010) and is now officially the world's six biggest economy.
Brazil's output was $2.47trillion last year whilst Britain only managed $2.42trillion.
So it makes no sense at all for the Uk to give aid to Brazil!
