Why Public job cuts is costing taxpayers more
« on: February 29, 2012, 09:45:12 am »
According to John Trickett in The Guardian, taxpayers paid around £90million in redundancy payments to civil servants during the last 3 months.
If this continues at this rate, the redundancy bill will reach £1billion before the next general election.
In the wider public sector it is expected that around 710,000 employees will lose their jobs.

As if that is not bad enough, despite the so-called "freeze on public sector recruitment," nearly 1,000 vacancies were advertised on the civil service website last week with annual salaries worth a total of £27million.
It gets worse, the government is also using recruitment agency labour, paying agencies a total of £30 million in the last three months.
