Can you extend deadline to exchange contracts?
« on: July 06, 2018, 07:13:46 pm »
We are in process of buying on a Keepmoat new development.
We was supposed to be exchanging contracts 7 July 2018, but our surveyor who was due yesterday didn't turn up. Unsure why?

I’ve contacted mortgage advisor and Keepmoat who say that it shouldn't be a problem extending contract deadline. Has anyone else had this issue?

The surveyor has rearranged with the builder so surely that’s a good sign isn't it?
I’m nervous that we will lose the house of our dreams and we cannot do anything about it!
We haven’t heard for definite yet what's happening.

I am not an expert but was in a similar situation with our new build home and we actually exchanged contracts about 6 weeks after the initial date the gave us. They aren’t going to lose a sale.

It is the housebuilder that sets the exchange deadline and they can extend it if they want to keep the sale.

Point to note, I doubt a Keepmoat new home would ever be a "dream home"
Perhaps you should do a bit of research before you exchange and its too late!  Keepmoat had no NHBC Quality award winning site managers last year and are just 3 star rated.
