Defects in New build homes
« on: March 09, 2012, 07:10:51 pm »
I am doing my dissertation on defects in new homes at the University of Brighton.
I would really appreciate it if you could take the time to fill in the questionnaire by following the link below.

I am looking into what the common defects are and why it seems to be so difficult to get these repaired even when the house is still under warranty or insured.

The main reason it is difficult to get defects rectified is because the house builders are driven by profit.
Rectifying defects is expensive. Managing the process is expensive.
There is no profit to be made in customer care, the only positive is to limit or prevent damage to a house builder's reputation.
The NHBC do a great deal to help home owners but often come up aganist lethargy from house builders who will not take responsibility.

There has been quite a bit of research along the lines you are doing and you may find the following links useful:-
