Watering a Lawn
« on: July 15, 2013, 10:29:47 am »
Watering a new lawn.
House builders should postpone laying turf in the recent unrelenting hot weather.
If they do go ahead they should be watering it every day.  However, they cannot water it at the best time, at dusk, when the water is less likely to evaporate before being of benefit to the lawn.

If your turf has shrunk or died back, you should write to the house builder, tell them you are not accepting it and as it was dead on your arrival.
You should also say you are not watering it and require it to be replaced at their cost when the weather conditions are more favourable.

For those with established lawns, you only need to water every two days.
Allow the sprinkler to water each section after 7pm for around 5 to 10 minutes only.
Any more than this is wasting water and adding to your water-metered water bill!
