Homeowners delay small household repairs
« on: October 11, 2011, 12:15:48 pm »
Millions of homeowners, particularly the elderly, are delaying getting small repairs done around their homes, as they are worried about the potential cost.

Insurer Saga has found that around 40% of over-50s homeowners had some repair work outstanding, such as fixing a dripping tap.
Saga estimates that there are currently around five million repair jobs that need fixing, with the potential cost to carry them out exceeding £900 million.

It can cost up to £170 to fix a leaking pipe and £85 to fix a dripping tap.

Saga offers a Home Response policy from £6 a month for emergency repairs.
HomeServe covers plumbing and drainage from £3.32 a month with boiler cover as a separate policy.
British Gas HomeCare policies start at £13 a month.

Be aware all policies have limits and exclusions!
