The APPG Inquiry Report Into Quality Of New Homes has been repeatedly delayed.
No reasons or explanations have been given.
Now, seven months since the last session of the APPG Inquiry Quality of New Build Housing in England on 14 December 2015 the report is due to be made publicly available on 13 July 2016.

Initially the Construction Industry Council (CIC.org) who "provides secretariat to the group" stated on their website that the report would be published "early 2016".
On 18 March the CIC advised me the report was due out "mid May".
On 28 April the CIC were
Quote
"delighted to announce the official launch of the report, which will be hosted by Oliver Colvile MP, chairman of the group, and will take place on Tuesday, 17 May 2016"
Following yet another enquiry, I was informed that the Inquiry "report will now be released after the referendum." - after 23rd June 2016.  On 27 June I again enquired regarding the report publication date and asked if the report publication was being delayed for political reasons. The CIC confirmed:
Quote
"reports should not be withheld for political reasons and, to my knowledge, this report has not been. Moreover, the date of the publication will be confirmed in due course. Please check the Group’s website for any updates."
Not exactly very helpful!

So here we are over seven months on since the last inquiry session and until tomorrow, apart from Oliver Colvile's announcement of the main findings and recommendations on 17 May 2016, we did not have any definitive report, without which, MPs will not act or lobby for measures and badly needed legislation to force house builders to improve the dire quality of the new homes they build and the often incredulously indifferent customer care that buyers only discover when fighting to get their homes put right.

So the e mail the CIC sent yesterday saying:
Quote
"I am delighted to confirm that the APPGEBE Report on Quality of New Built Housing  will be published this Wednesday, 13 July 2016.
You will be able to download an electronic version of the document from the APPGEBE website .
We also have hard copies of the report available.  If you would like us to send you some, please e-mail me your address"

So was this Report deliberately held back until after the EU Referendum?
After the Chilcot Inquiry was published on 6 July?
After the Conservatives elected a new leader?

The Report for the previous inquiry, into Flood Mitigation and Resilience (December 2014) was published in March 2015.  Perhaps the General Election on 7 May 2015 might had expedited it?

I only hope the report findings and recommendations of this Report are worth the extensive wait and fully echo what Oliver Colvile MP said on 17 May 2016 and will be implemented as a matter of priority.

New home buyers have had a rough deal for far too long.
They need a New Homes Ombudsman set up this year.
