Over-50's suffer more in the recession
« on: October 04, 2011, 11:03:27 am »
The number of people over 50 who have been out of work for more than two years has topped 100,000 for the first time, double the 2009 figure.
Bearing in mind a great many may have not officially "registered" for benefits or are ineligible - the actual 2011 number is likely to be even higher.

The proportion of over-50's facing long-term unemployment is now greater than for any other age group. Could it be that after a lifetime of hard work
and loyalty to a company they are finding that following redundancy and perhaps having their pensions diluted, most are saying do I really need this anymore, life is short.
