I recently bought a new apartment in a block of 10, and I am on the ground floor.
The building was constructed by a small-ish company but known locally.
I do not have an NHBC warranty but am covered by build-zone insurance.
I have found that I can hear voices from above, light switches, doors, the fan from the above bathroom and can even hear the lady above go to the loo! We have looked in the ceiling and there is empty space between my ceiling and the floor above, and it it wasn't for the noise of the traffic outside (I live on a main road) I think I would be able to hear every word.
I spoke to the builder about it and they have been out and said they can't find anything.
I have emailed the director directly and he has not responded.
I am confident after speaking to numerous friends who work in the industry that building regs have not been followed. My question is whether it is worth going about proving it, or leaving it and hoping the next year or two flies by (I intend to sell after this point).
Has anybody been through a similar process and been successful or am I fighting a losing battle here? I'm very cross that this has happened to me and it's affecting my every day life, as you can imagine but the guidance out there is so woolly and confusing.
Any help (positive please) would be appreciated.
