Garage too small
« on: September 28, 2020, 02:13:37 am »
We were never told what size the garage would be, but were simply told it would be enough for 2 cars. (front-to-back)

The house was finished back in April, but the garage was finished a couple of weeks ago, after our last site visit.

We moved in on Friday and the garage opening is 2100mm, which doesn't fit our 2125mm car.
The 2.1m just seems much too small.

Even Wikipedia says:
Typically, a small British single garage is 8 by 16 feet (2.4 m × 4.9 m), a medium single garage is 9 by 18 feet (2.7 m × 5.5 m), and a large single garage is 10 by 20 feet (3.0 m × 6.1 m)

It's smaller than what's considered small!

It's our only parking and we feel conned.

What can we do?

The RIBA design standards state a minimum size for a single garage of 2.5m width  x 5m deep.
As it is described as a garage it should be large enough for most cars which if you look at the width of cars in my post above it is.
Has it been built to the actual size on the plans?
Do you just have a small door width?

It also seems odd that the house was finished way back in April and they have only now just built your garage too!
