Quite a few people experience delays when selling a home and especially when buying a new build one.
Trying to pin any housebuilder down to a precise completion date that will be met, with the new home 100% finished and snagged is nigh on impossible.
You may not realise it, but your buyer delaying and your posting on here could well be the best thing to happen to you this year!
The reason is you are buying an
End of year figures new home.
Taylor Wimpey's financial year end is 31 December 2015 and the last possible date for you to legally complete for this date is:
you've guessed it.... Friday 18 December 2015.
Whether you manage to sell you existing home or not will not matter a jot to Taylor Wimpey.
They will want you legally completed on your new home on 18 December 2015 and will move heaven and earth to force you to, regardless of whether it is fully finished and defect free.
You should instruct your solicitor now, to write to Taylor Wimpey and give them notice that you cannot and will not legally complete until your home has been inspected by your professional snagging inspector.
The issue of poor quality of end of year rushed homes was featured on C4 Dispatches "Britain's Nightmare New Homes"
(repeated on 4Seven Thursday 19 November at 8.30pm) and available online catch up 4OD for the next 27 days.
Considering issues with Taylor Wimpey homes formed a large part of this programme, it is essential viewing for you!
