The majority of Greeks look on income tax as an option not a duty. The shameless tax dodging has helped bankrupt Greece.
The Greeks enjoy a generous state pension with some retiring in their 40's (a bit different from the UK's 55,66,67,68,69?,70?)
That hasn't stopped the children of dead Greeks continuing to claim their parent's pensions sometimes decades after they died.
During random checks at popular Athens nightclubs the Greek government found that 6,000 people that had declared an income of just €10,000 a year owned cars worth more than €100,000. Tax fiddling is on a huge scale and nearly every Greek is at it from small shop owners to leaders of business and politics. Only 5,000 people in a country of 12 million adults admit to earning more than £90,000.
The Greeks should bail out themselves with a TAX grab on their citizens and not expect the rest of Europe to subsidise their tax obligations. Riot all you like Greece, you get no sympathy from me!
