Title: Stuck in a new build quandary!
Post by: TeflonPenguin27 on May 20, 2020, 08:51:55 am
Good morning, great little find this forum.

Myself, other half and the dog are looking at a new build as it gives us that fresh look and flexibility to do as we see fit with our house. We have seen so many sites and visited quite few show homes and had the same briefing.
We seemed to have settled on a Bloor Homes site (Lowton Heath) but I still keep finding new sites around the same area we are looking. But having visited places like Redrow and actually thought is this the best you can do.

Any help and advice is appreciated for all this especially as it’s our first home to buy.

Budget - £290,000
Needs - Garage (preference detached)
          - decent garden size for our Labrador
          - would rather have a good size 3 bed over a cramped 4 bed

Thanks and hopefully reply to you all soon!
Cheers
Alex and Amanda

All I will say is Bloor Homes are not very proactive on fixing defects once you have moved in judging by the Bloor buyers that have contacted me.

As for your requirements, it is only you that can decide what home suits you best.
I suggest you take your time and do some thorough research as price are likely to fall rather than rise this year.

I've moved into a Bloor Home two years ago, can only comment for myself and immediate neighbours. Accepting its a new build, and not bespoke buildings, we are quite happy with the build quality and after sales service.

The only criticism we have, is sound transference throughout the house. That's an ongoing issue for myself.

As the style of houses seem to be very similar across the country, I note that the 3 bed houses all seem to have a detached garage. Point to note, is that the driveways are shared, and single file. That is you have parking for two vehicles, but not side by side.

Good luck in your hunt.
