Title: Potential new home buyer
Post by: Callum_62 on January 22, 2020, 09:25:44 am
Currently in negotiations with Miller homes up in Scotland on a detatched 4 bedroom house that is due to finish Feb/March.

Obviously it's nearing being built so we are trying to get as much incentives thrown in as possible.  They have offered a part-exchange on our home and 'move with us' rang me yesterday to arrange to local EAs to come and value our honme

Anyone any experience with part-exchanging and in particular Miller's "move with us"?

Also any recommendations for snagging companies IN Scotland?

Lastly - does anyone have an experience of buying a new Miller home?

Miller were quite good but like any large housebuilder they still had sites that were not of good quality.
Part-exchange (http://www.brand-newhomes.co.uk/part-exchange-deals.htm)saves you a lot of hassle and estate agents fees but it is critical you get a fair market price for your old home and are not overpaying on your new one.
As always do you research and DO NOT use Miller's suggested/recommended firm of solicitors whatever they say!
It is illegal for any housebuilder to require you to as a condition of the sale!

Good that you are have the house professionally snagged and inspected, Most of the better older firms are UK-wide. Make sure you have the inspection  done before you legally complete.

We did a part-exchange deal several years ago and were really happy with it. You just need to remember to get more than one independent valuations of your home and compare them with the offer from the builder.
