Defective Taylor Wimpey New Home On BBC South Today
« on: December 05, 2015, 07:10:33 am »
Last night BBC South Today featured Evelyn Lallo who moved into her Taylor Wimpey new home in Romsey earlier this year. However she was forced to move to temporary accommodation in June whilst extensive remedial works were carried out. In the six months since, it appears Taylor Wimpey to have only managed to re erect scaffolding and strip out all the drylining internally.

Her MP Caroline Nokes raised the question of poor quality defect ridden new homes in the House of Commons said:
"my real concern is fundamental structural flaws that should have been picked up in the pre plaster inspection, are already being missed what can we expect as rates of housebuiling accelerate?"

James Wharton MP Minister for Communities and Local Government responded:
"Government are concerned that standards are adhered to, and look forward to findings of the APPG for Excellence in the Built Environment to see what further work might be done to continue to improve the quality of new homes both by my department and by others in the construction process"

An HBF spokesman stated the usual  "the overwhelming majority of people were happy with their new homes. In the small number of cases........... yadda yadda yadda"

Taylor Wimpey issued this statement:
"A programme of remedial works has commenced and we are fully committed to completing them as soon as practically possible.
We sincerely apologise for the disruption this has caused and we are taking all measures to ensure that further disruption is minimised as the works are completed"

Just not good enough Peter Redfern (CEO) is it?  With alrming regularity I hear of more and more Taylor Wimpey buyers who have problems with their new homes. Will they rate your firm Three Stars this year Pete?

Caroline Nokes MP for Romsey debates the question of poor quality and defective new homes in the House of Commons following Evelyn Lallo's dreadful experience with Taylor Wimpey.

Well worth a read as it shows just how good the industry is at defending itself and hiding the truth.
But the end is in sight, the New Homes Ombudsman will happen.

On 2 December 2015 James Wharton Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State (Department for Communities and Local Government) said:

Quote
"Members have raised serious issues on this occasion and on others. The Government are concerned that standards are adhered to and look forward to the findings of the APPG to see what further work might be done to continue to improve the quality of new homes both by my Department and by others involved in the construction process.

We want to ensure that people can confidently buy new homes, and confidently make what is often the largest investment that they will ever make."

So why hasn't he taken note of the APPG Inquiry Report ten recommendations published on 13 July 2016?
Perhaps now he is Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for International Development, he now feels it is no longer his job to see this through, despite the increasing number of new home buyers, hard working British people, suffering in defective new homes ignored by indifferent hosuebuilders protected by MPs that do not do, what they said nine months ago, they would do!

Evelyn Lallo has just confirmed to me that she has moved back into her home and that it took Taylor Wimpey 14 months to sort out the problems with her house.
So much for Taylor Wimpey's

As soon as practically possible?
It probably only took Taylor Wimpey around 14 weeks to build it originally!
