Title: Payment of Ground Rent
Post by: Admin on September 23, 2011, 10:13:05 am
A landlord cannot bring any action against a leaseholder for non-payment of ground rents if he has not first demanded it.
In addition under the Limitation Act 1980, a landlord cannot recover ground rent going back more than six years, even if it has been previously demanded.

Responsibility for payment of ground rent is with the current owner of the lease. Failure to pay ground rent could result in forfeiture of the lease.
