New Land Registry charges introduced
« on: May 12, 2014, 10:01:55 am »
When you buy a home, your solicitor will need to register the Property Title in your name with the Land Registry.

However, you may not appreciate that the Land Registry fees for this vary from £40 for homes less than £80,000 to £910 for homes of £1 million or more.
It should be noted that these fees are halved if payment is made by electronic transfer.
Anyone buying a property should therefore instruct their solicitor and insist that payment is made electronically to qualify for the 50% discount.

The new fees apply to all applications received at Land Registry offices on or after 17 March 2014.
As detailed in the Land Registration Fee Order 2013
