Title: How can I find out who is responsible for the boundary fences
Post by: Domicile on November 21, 2011, 01:23:43 pm
On the Land Registry plan in my house deeds, the boundary is marked in red but there are not any "T" indicators to show which property is responsible for the fencing.

Does anyone know how to find out who is responsible for the fences?

It is not uncommon for boundary ownership not to be indicated on the Title Deed plans.
In practice it is usually the property owner who originally erected the fence or who has been maintaining it in the past.

In most cases, both owners would share responsibility for maintenance and replacement.
If you repair the fence you will be asserting ownership and as such you will be able to decide on the height and type of fencing.
