Title: Streetlight in way of path from house
Post by: firsttimebuyer on August 15, 2017, 08:30:28 pm
I was told they were going to alter the path slightly and put a dog leg in it to avoid the streetlight. Today however, they have laid the path straight, directly into the light!
Any advice/thoughts please? Personally I think it's less than ideal but not sure if I can do anything about it?

With TWO street lights, the modern low energy bright ones too, it will be lit up like daylight, which is probably just as well as your new house has very small windows and there isn't even a window in the door!

Of course something can be done about it. The street light can be moved or the path could be repositioned, at a slight angle perhaps.

Have you (did you) checked the layout plans for street lights etc as suggested?  See bottom of this page on the main website  (http://www.brand-newhomes.co.uk/what_to_look_for_when_buying_a_brand_new_home.htm)
I must say that I would not buy any house with a street light right slap bang in front of it.
Common sense usually locates street lights to the boundary between houses or at the terrace ends.

You have some terrible brick banding. This is caused when the bricks not being properly mixed. I wouldn't accept this. Please get your home snagged by an expert before you legally complete.
A good site manager would have got the downpipes fitted before now too, so the brickwork doesn't get soaked when it rains!
