Snagging and completion date
« on: May 21, 2019, 06:58:08 am »
I’m new to his forum but hope you can help.
We are due to complete this Friday, part exchange into a new build. We had a snagging survey done last Friday which came up with lots of faults, some minor but also things like uneven floor in some of the rooms and a couple of blown bricks.

The housebuilder says they will try to sort out the minor things and investigate the rest.
We are now concerned they will not have everything sorted before completion. Where do we stand?
Can we legally push back completion and demand they get things done?
Solicitor is not really being that helpful (maybe because she was recommended by them)
Thanks in advance

Im willing to bet my house which also completes on Friday that one clause in the contract you signed says you are not legally allowed to delay completion.

Id consider yourself lucky that your builder allowed you to have snagging done prior to completion. Which developer was it that allowed that as Taylor Wimpey were resolute in refusing us even when we threatened to pull out at the 11th hour before contract exchange.

Mistake number one, was using the housebuilder's 'recommended' solicitor.
You have no chance of doing anything you want if the housebuilders disagrees.
If snags are serious pushing back completion will be beneficial for you and the builder.
