Title: Persimmon homes snagging
Post by: dazla36 on November 02, 2017, 08:38:38 pm
I posted a while back regarding the 202 snags on our new build Persimmon house and the terrible quality they pass off as a finished home.
We have now been in our house for 18 weeks and still we have over 30 snags.
Persimmon are now refusing to do work on our house, including structural issues (bent lintel over the front door).  We are getting no response from Persimmon via email or phone calls and are wanting to know what our next step is?

We have contacted the local authority, who were very unhelpful and inform us that they only get paid to complete a very basic inspection and a 5 minute final inspection.
We have also contacted LABC warranty, who again were very unhelpful and took weeks to contact us after numerous phonecalls and emails.
We have contacted numerous solicitors who are reluctant to take the case as many of them hold information on Persimmon.  Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

What you describe is common with housebuilders especially at Persimmon Homes.
This is why they have just a three star rating by their own customers!
Most builders might be more accommodating when you first move in, so you give them a positive response in the HBF survey, but after 10 weeks or so, after doing the easy cosmetic snags they don't help at all.

Not all warranties are the same, which is why I advise all new home buyers to walk away if there is not an NHBC warranty available.   LABC is the same as Premier Guarantee, both are administered by MD Insurance Services! Many buyers have had difficulty claiming.
The NHBC is far from perfect but in my opinion, streets ahead of any other warranty.
