Title: Patchy roof tiles
Post by: HarperRose on June 28, 2021, 02:47:54 pm
I am in the process of buying a new build in Scotland - a semi detached house and there is a noticeable difference in the tile colour so it’s very patchy across both houses. I queried it and was told as they tiles are natural it can happen but surely they should be using the same batch? Has anyone came across this before?
Thanks

Yes it is common and yes it should not happen.
The tiles can be tinted, or better the patch removed and the different colour tiles mixed and blended in.

Refusing to do anything about it at this early stage in your new build nightmare doesn't bode well!
Who is the housebuilder?

Thanks for your reply, it’s Taylor Wimpey. I’ll try post a picture of the tiles

Same thing happen with me and after some debating about what colours the tiles should be.
Taylor Wimpey decided to get the roofer back. After removing the tiles and mixing them up, things look so much better.

I find it increasingly difficult to understand how builders such as Taylor Wimpey can bang on about "quality and workmanship" and "getting the basics right" when they clearly don't!
