Title: new house mortar cracks above rear doors
Post by: craig2703 on December 14, 2017, 10:29:00 am
Hi

I'm in the process of completing on a new build house it has been delayed due to other houses on site and was originally made watertight 9 months ago but due to other houses on the site being done it is last to be finished.

About the rear garden doors it looks like the corner of the brick arch above has dropped I pointed this out and they have re pointed the area
Do you think there could be a more serious underlying problem here or do you think it is just settling cracks and most likely from poor workmanship.

Thank you we are going to get the new mortar dyed so you can't see the repair hopefully, thank you.

I think this crack is minor and could have been probably caused by the door slamming shut in high winds during the build.

It does not indicate to me, from what I can see, that this is caused by subsidence or anything serious.
