Title: New Build Patchy Brickwork
Post by: Driveway on January 08, 2021, 10:08:48 am
Looking for a bit of advice/ help, we are currently waiting for our new home to be completed and have been visiting several times watching it go up. The other day after taking some photos of the property in the sun I noticed that some of the brickwork on the house was 'patchy' and not blended in.

I understand the the property is described as a 'mixed brick' however it doesn't look like they have mixed in the brick on the side of the house. It also looks as if they have used a different colour brick between the ground and first floor at the back of the house, is this normal?

I have yet to raise this with the site, but suspect I will get the line that "the bricks dry at different rates" when I next speak to them about it, is this true? We are due to complete in March but welcome some advice on the matter.

Photos attached: apologies photos were taken on my phone and it was as close as I could get.

Bricks dry at different rates dos not apply to the side (gable elevation)
It could well be that the top part got very wet in driving rain but run off and gravity would have resulted in the whole wall on that side being wet the same.

Yes your bricks are a blended mix which they have done quite well.

But lighter bands are due to not mixing the batches enough. These areas can be tinted with mixed success.

Please get your home professionally snagged and inspected before you legally complete!
