Title: Flooding/boggy garden & Retaining wall
Post by: aug123 on March 11, 2021, 09:54:26 pm
I'm after some advice regarding couple of issues in my garden. Within 2 weeks of moving in (2019) my garden flooded and as a solution they raised my patio to make the water flow out. But this didn't resolve the issue. After a year of emailing to them, they finally got around and installed a perforated pipe underground. This seems to be helping and water doesn't stick around on my patio.

But my garden is boggy to walk and there's material (which looks like mud) coming out of the pvc pipes installed on the retaining wall. I'm yet to hear from them regarding this, but I have to assume that they'll do everything in their power to say it's not an issue. There are two adjacent houses where the retaining wall continues to and none of them have similar issue around the retaining wall. It's worst compared to how it was last year. My worry is that this is a sign that the retaining wall has not been done properly.

Please see attached images.

Any help much appreciated.

It is highly likely that the drainage behind the retaining wall is ineffective and casues water and sand/mud to wash out of gaps possibly blocking them.

I am not sure of the relationship your home has with adjoining properties. Form what you said it seems likely that their surface water is draining onto your property, which as owners they have a responsibility to prevent.

Stick to your guns and report it to the builder (who is who?) in writing asking that it bee sorted out this summer.
