We've put a reservation down on a Seddon Homes property and are due to exchange in a couple of weeks. However, the brickwork is leaving me less than thrilled and I am seriously considering walking away from it - I would be really grateful for any comments/feedback as to whether you think I'm being too fussy or if the standard of brickwork is acceptable/will "dry out" etc? I personally think it's horrific!
The back of the property photo is from early January (just after the scaffolding came down), and the front/side is from this week.

This is called brick banding, caused by a colour variation in the different packs of bricks.
A good site would have mixed up different packs them up so it blended.
My advice is walk away as there is no solution to this that the builder would accept.
You will always be unhappy with this and see it every time you come home.
It does not weather in.
The house in the photo is worse though!
NHBC would be no help either, even though mixing bricks is mentioned in their standards as good practice advice.

We have, in fact, withdrawn our offer and walked away before we exchanged as I just couldn't "unsee" the banding and patches, and as you quite rightly said, it would bother me every time I looked at the house!

I'm pleased for you. I think you have done the right thing.
There may have been lots of defects when it was finished.
No one has ever come on here and said they regret NOT BUYING a new home.
