5 star quality is a joke
« on: January 10, 2013, 09:49:00 pm »
Please do not believe all the advertising and sales pitches when purchasing your new home. A 5 star quality home does not exist if it is built by the inept contractors used by David Wilson Homes.

They are not claiming five star "quality" or at least the HBF do not allow this if they do.
They are only claiming that in the HBF customer survey, which has its limitations, over 90% of buyers siad they were "satisfied" with their home and would recommend David Wilson Homes to a friend.

If that is the case they are clearly (all) a bunch of charlatans as it's very misleading to the average new home buyer.

Sadly it is the case.
Most of the major house builders that have been rated "5 stars" in the HBF star rating survey, use it at every marketing opportunity.
The questions are "recommend to a friend" and "satisfied with your home".
-neither are a specific indication of quality in the way that the NHBC Quality Awards are.
You can be "satisfied" with a horrible meal if you have been very ungry!

Whilst 5 stars is not a guide to quality and service, not having five stars should act as a warning to potential new home buyers.
Only three of the large national house builders (Persimmon, Linden and Crest) did not get the full five stars in the 2013 survey results.
