Title: Persimmon homes anticipates house prices to rise

Despite the fact that national housebuilder Persimmon, said it sold fewer houses in the first half of this year compared with same period in 2010,
it expects the housing market to improve during the remainder of this year. The average selling price fell to £162,000 from £168,936 reflecting on
the fact that a greater proportion of smaller houses were sold in the period. 

The number of new homes completed in the six-month period was also down at 4439 compared to 4657 a year earlier.
However, Persimmon said that sales were beginning to improve and that it expected to match last year's figures for completions.
Persimmon believe that an improvement in mortgage lending is the key to building more homes and confirmed that it had seen a "modest improvement" in lending.

The housebuilder said it had sold 4,439 homes in the first six months of the year, compared with 4,657 a year earlier.
However, it said sales were starting to improve and it expected to sell a similar number of homes this year as last.

The house builders always seem to know well in advance what the market is going to do.
That way they can take advantage of any improvement by building stock even when the market is flat.
This could be a good sign.

Hello,

I know nothing is guaranteed, I'm surprised to hear mention of this - on clay you'd expect subsidence to occur after a very dry spell. As we've experienced neither since these homes were built it seems doubtful there is much truth to these rumours. I think you will find that you are not alone in many respects, not the least of, which is that the difficulties and excuses you refer to will have been mirrored by many other the UK national builders, and therefore experienced in one form or another by many other new house buyers.?
