This was launched in 2007 and is becoming the NHBC's main competition the new home warranty market.
The LABC Warranty "works in partnership with Local Authority Building Control (LABC) to provide housebuilders with a complete range of developer services under one roof from warranties to assessments and compliance testing."
The warranty schemes are underwritten by AmTrust Europe Limited, who are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority.
Bloor Homes are one of the larger house builders who are using the LABC warranty.
All new homebuyers should ask the question:
What is the reason why my new home is not covered by the NHBC Buildmark Warranty (http://www.brand-newhomes.co.uk/brand_new_home_warranty.htm) ?

Please see my post from today. I agree this seems an extremely valid point now. Unfortunately I was naive enough to assume that as my mortgage company accept the warranty it must give me cover against bad workmanship. I was never provided with a copy of the warranty by the builder. Any idea if this has any impact on my claims?

As you are probably finding out, the LABC Warranty does not provide cover against every defect. As an insurance policy it gives cover for new home buyers against specified risks such as structural defects that can be costly to rectify.
As LABC state: their warranty "does not provide cover for general wear and tear, condensation, shrinkage, and damage arising from failure to maintain the property. For full details you should read your copy of the policy document that specifies the cover provided."
You should have received this from your solicitor when you legally completed.
If you did not or your solicitor did not ensure the new hame had a valid warranty he has been negligent.
