Not all Home Insurance policies cover vermin damage.

Damage caused if vermin enter your home can be extensive. Rodents can chew through wiring and pipes, which may even result in a fire in extreme cases.
The level of insurance cover for damage by vermin varies between insurance providers.

The vast majority of home insurance policies specifically exclude any damage caused by vermin such as mice, insects, rats, foxes and squirrels.
Damage by the family pet is also usually excluded.

However, some policies with accidental damage do provide cover in some instances. Aviva and LV will pay for damage caused by wild animals.
It can get complicated with some policies excluding cover for rats, mice and pigeons but damage caused by foxes and badgers is included.

We would advise everyone to check their home insurance policies.
