MORTGAGE RATES (http://www.brand-newhomes.co.uk/mortgage-current-best-deals.htm) are unlikely to drop further and this may be a good time to lock into a fixed rate mortgage whilst the banks are still lending.
There are three five-year fixed rate deals:
HSBC has a 5-year fix at 3.28% with a hefty £1,999 arrangement fee and requires at least 40% deposit.
Chelsea Building Society is offering 3.39% with a £1,495 fee for those with a deposit of 30% or more.
ING has a 5-year fix at 3.89% for those with 40% deposit or 3.99% for 25% deposit.
Both ING deals include valuation and legal costs and have no arrangement fees.
