Odd frost erosion
« on: January 21, 2023, 01:42:23 pm »
I have a few raised beds in the back yard, currently covered up for winter, and today I discovered a very odd frost erosion along every edge of the raised beds. I am in the Surrey area of the UK and it has been below freezing several days during the past few weeks but I have never seen this effect before.
The ground has eroded away over one inch deep in the photos attached.
Does anyone know what has caused this?

The scaffold board "walls" are bowing and the soil contents have settled by a corresponding amount.
