House prices in the UK fell in September by 0.5% according to the latest Halifax figures.
The annual rate of decline easing slightly to -2.3% (-2.6% August)
The value of an average home is now £161,132 down from £164,145 at the start of the year, although quarterly prices rose in the July to September quarter by a marginal 0.1%.
