Title: British housebuilder ratings!!!
Post by: Scotsman109 on July 01, 2016, 04:33:09 pm
There are house builders' sites that I have worked on many times in 29 years.
PERSIMMON.  TERRIBLE! They build timber frame houses very badly. 0/10

TAYLOR WIMPEY. TERRIBLE! Their site managers and contract managers are useless. - 0/10

CHARLES CHURCH.  TERRIBLE! They used to be high quality then Persimmon bought them. Badly-built timber frame homes! Ask their site manager where his moisture meter is?
They don't know they are supposed to check moisture content of the timber frames before insulation, vapour barriers and drylining. - 0/10

BARRATT/DAVID WILSON - Not very good - 1/10

I wouldn't trust any of the builders above to build me a shed let alone a new house!!!!

Welcome to my forum.

Your ratings echo the HBF customer Satisfaction Survey and NHBC Quality Awards (2016) won by their site managers and my own thoughts.  Despite Barratt's five star rating and 70 NHBC Awards, they are only better because they try to fix their defective homes after people move in. The same cannot be said for other house builders.

The photos below, were taken by a Barratt buyer who moved in to their "finished" new home on 30 June 2016, Barratt financial year-end date. (http://www.brand-newhomes.co.uk/house_builders_end_of_year_figures.htm) Clearly this house is far from finished or to an acceptable standard.

Persimmon (aka Charles Church) 3 Star rated - 7 NHBC Awards
Taylor Wimpey   4 star rated - 57 NHBC Awards
Barratt (aka David Wilson) 5 Star rated - 79 NHBC Awards.

The quickest way to ruin your CV is to work for a house builder.
You will never get an opportunity to go back into contracting/construction ever again, such is this industry's bad reputation!
