Advice on buying a brand new home > House Builders

Balfour Beatty Homes?

(1/1)

freddles91:
I'm currently looking around at new builds and I've found a promising development by Balfour Beatty Homes, however I can barely find anything at all about them online.

Hardly any reviews or testimonials, I can't even find them on the HBF star list thing.
Does anybody have any experience with or know of any anybody who has had experience with them? The only stuff I can actually find about them are a horrendously low Trustpilot score for their parent company and nothing about the house building part, although going off that it doesn't fill me with confidence.

New Home Expert:
First of all disregard the useless HBF star rating.  For a start not all builders belong to it or wish to have there customers surveyed by it. Those that do can and have manipulated the responses for many years, now to such an extent that in the survey year to September 2020 - 42 out of a total 48 housebuilders, were "awarded" five stars!  The other six got a 4 star rating.

Balfour Beatty Homes is a subsidiary of Balfour Beatty Investments which looks to be part of the main Balfour Beatty group.
It is large and has obviously seen the huge profits that can be made now in the housebuilding sector and can trade on its historic household name for what I call "proper construction". As did Taylor Woodrow t/a Taywood Homes, before becoming Taylor Wimpey.

At the end of the day whether you get a well built house is mainly down to the attitude and knowledge of the site manager in charge and the time the company allows for him to build each plot.

At least you will have an NHBC 10-year warranty.
Often no reviews is good news too!
Be sure to have your new home professionally snagged and inspected before you legally complete and don't use Balfour Beatty's  suggested or recommended solicitors.

Thanks, that is slightly comforting although I would still have preferred to see some reviews! I'll see what happens I suppose!
