The NHBC statistical data to the end of September show 27,850 new homes were started in the UK between July and September 2011.
This represents a 4% decrease on the same period a year ago. In September a total of 9,150 new homes were started.
However, the number of new home starts over a rolling 12-month period is down from 111,500 to 103,100
