After receiving a great deal of criticism for their planning reforms, the government is hoping to deflect attention away from the threat to the Green Belt
by announcing plans to allow house builders to build 100,000 new homes on disused public land.
Under the scheme, house builders will be allowed to build new homes on sites such as disused airfields, and will be able to delay payment for the land until they have sold the houses.
It is hoped the scheme would generate 200,000 new jobs and by cramming as much building on
Brownfield Sites, the opposition to the new planning reforms will be deflected.
In allowing Britains national plc house builders to develop public land without incurring upfront costs or interest on loans to buy the land,
the government is in fact subsidising these private companies for the benefit of their shareholders.
