'Big six' energy supplier npower, has reported a 34% rise in profits to £313million for 2011.
Last October it increased gas prices by 15.7% and electricity by 7.2%.
The company is owned by German utility RWE.
Last week, EDF was ordered to pay £4.5million to some of its customers as a result of using 'poor sales techniques'.
