Title: Green energy subsidies being passed on to homeowners
Post by: Banjo on June 12, 2011, 12:10:44 pm
The cost of subsidising renewable 'green' energy is expected to double by 2015.
This will cost the average household around £400 a year on top of the fuel cost.

The main energy providers are saying that the average cost of electricity and gas for households will increase 51% by 2015 to £1,820 a year.
The increase is required to pay for compulsory green initiatives to encourage renewable generation and provide grants and subsidies for home insulation, solar panels and smart meters etc.

I thought the renewable subsidies came from the government not the energy suppliers.
Anyway I bet the energy suppliers were not supposed to pass them on.
They can have their "free" low energy light bulbs back and stick them where there is no light!
