The "Big Six" energy companies are under government pressure to increase the number of installations of loft and cavity wall insulation in Britain's homes.

If tough insulation targets are not met they could face fines of up to 10% of turnover.
In the three months to September just 300,000 properties had insulation fitted.
Energy Secretary Chris Huhne, has told the Big Six they need to double their insulation rates.

The Energy Saving Trust has advice for homeowners.
Around 3.5 million homes are set to have their insulation improved by December 2012 as a result of tougher emissions targets.
