Home Buyer's Reports - Are they worth the money?
« on: July 25, 2011, 12:02:53 pm »
A homebuyer's report is a total waste of money if you are buying a brand new home.
You would be better spending the cost on a professional snagging inspector so that every aspect of your new home is thoroughly checked.
The house builder and the NHBC inspect new homes and the warranty gives total peace of mind for two years.

A homebuyer's report does not do anything that you cannot do yourself. It is only a visual inspection and does not cover things like checking windows, doors or taps work properly.
The surveyor will not examine anything that cannot be readily seen such as the condition of any hidden timbers.
