HMRC is set to announce later today, a special task force to catch people who are letting properties but not disclosing the income on their tax returns.
Many may be accidental landlords, people who are renting their home because they cannot sell them in the current market.
Revenue and Customs hopes to raise around £17million from the three groups being targeted.
These also include the Midlands and North West rag trade and evasion of alcohol duty in Scotland
