Title: Freeholders and Landlords are liable for fire risk
Post by: Philofacts on July 19, 2011, 09:32:14 am
The common areas of leasehold properties (flats) and multi-occupancy houses are covered under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
The Freeholder of the building is legally responsible for carrying out a risk assessment for fire safety and will need to address any issues identified.

I wonder how many actually carry out a proper fire risk assessment or even know how to do one.
No doubt the cost of any work required will be passed on to the leaseholders too.
